The Challenge: Water Scarcity and Pollution
In many Kenyan communities, access to clean and safe water remains a challenge. Students often struggle with waterborne diseases, while schools face difficulties in maintaining hygiene and sanitation. At the same time, rivers and streams are under threat from pollution and unsustainable practices.
Joyce’s Leadership Journey
Through Climart Africa’s mentorship and networking platforms, Joyce, a passionate secondary school student, connected with peers who shared her vision for a healthier environment. Together, they formed a student-led water and conservation project focused on addressing local water challenges.
The Impact So Far
- Organized clean-up drives along polluted water sources near their community.
- Launched a water conservation campaign in schools, teaching students how to reduce wastage and practice safe water use.
- Worked with local leaders to advocate for sustainable water management practices.
- Increased awareness on the link between climate change, water scarcity, and public health
A Vision for the Future
Joyce and her team envision expanding the initiative into a regional youth water network, connecting schools and communities across counties to champion clean water, sanitation, and environmental protection.
