Celebrating Our First Scholarship Recipient: Sibel Taaka
We are thrilled to share a major milestone in our journey toward empowering young climate leaders across Kenya. Yesterday, Climart Africa awarded its very first scholarship, a moment that marks the beginning of a powerful movement led by courageous, environmentally-conscious students.
And this historic moment belongs to Sibel Taaka, a brilliant Grade 5 pupil from Kwa Njenga Primary School, whose passion for environmental change has touched her entire school community.
Meet Sibel: A Young Leader Making Real Change
Sibel is not your ordinary learner — she is a visionary.
Together with her classmates, she helped establish a thriving school garden that now supplies fresh vegetables to students who often struggle to afford daily lunch.
Through this project, Sibel has played a key role in:
- Reducing hunger among vulnerable students
- Supporting the school’s feeding program with fresh produce
- Increasing environmental awareness through hands-on learning
- Demonstrating the power of climate-smart agriculture
- Inspiring her peers to join in restoring their environment
Her dedication to climate action and community wellbeing perfectly aligns with our mission at Climart Africa.
Why We Are Celebrating This Milestone
This scholarship is more than financial support — it is an investment in the next generation of climate leaders.
At Climart Africa, we believe that when young people are empowered, they:
- Build climate-smart solutions for their communities
- Restore ecosystems and promote sustainability
- Inspire others to take action
- Develop leadership skills grounded in resilience and innovation
- Grow into adults who will shape national and global climate policy
Sibel represents the future we are fighting for — a future where every child is equipped to lead climate action in their community.
This Is Only the Beginning
Sibel’s story marks the first of many. We are committed to supporting more students, more schools, and more climate projects across Kenya.
Together, we can:
- Transform school environments
- Combat food insecurity
- Build climate resilience
- Raise a generation of informed, empowered environmental stewards
And we need you on this journey.
